Update on measles outbreak declared on Merseyside

A measles outbreak has been declared on Merseyside. There are 13 confirmed and 16 suspected cases ranging in age from nine months to adults aged in their 20s. Six people, four children and two adults, required treatment in hospital. This compares to just one confirmed case on Merseyside in the first six weeks of 2011 and one in the corresponding period of 2010.

Update on Legionnaires’ Cluster Associated with a Hotel in Spain

10 February 2012, 1400hrs. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has this week been alerted by the Spanish public health authorities about a further case of Legionnaires’ Disease in a UK resident who stayed at the Diamante Beach Hotel in Calpe, Costa Blanca, as well as two French cases. This brings the total number of UK residents associated with this cluster to 12, with three deaths.

If a GP, or another member of our health care team, believes you need hospital treatment or specialist care elsewhere, they will ask you where and when you would like to go. If possible the appointment will be booked for you there and then.

Medical Examinations

All medicals for insurance, HGV licences, driving, elderly drivers etc can be arranged with reception. These are not covered by the NHS and a fee will be payable.

Test Results

xray When test results are received back into the practice a log entry is made into your computer file along with a message from the doctor.

You do not have to make an appointment to obtain your test results, always ask a member of our reception team first for assistance.

If the doctor needs to see you to discuss the results we will contact you to arrange this or the doctor may phone you. This does not mean that there is anything seriously wrong. It may just mean that the test needs to be repeated.

Test results can only be given to the patient.
